Today's flight to Inverness from Amsterdam had to be redirected due to a technical problem.

The KLM flight from Amsterdam was scheduled to take off from Schiphol Airport at 11.25am and had almost reached Edinburgh before returning to the Netherlands.

A KLM Royal Dutch Airlines spokeswoman said: "Flight KL 923 to Inverness indeed returned to Schiphol Airport due to a technical problem.

"The passengers and crew have not been in danger. The passengers could resume their journey on another aircraft that took off at 14.21 hrs and have arrived in Inverness."
