The manager of one of Badenoch’s biggest hotels has condemned “vicious” rumour-mongers who put it about that the business had been closed after being connected with a Coronavirus case.

Paul Brown, manager of Kingussie’s Duke of Gordon Hotel, told the Strathy that it was simply not true.

“We were dismayed to hear that this was doing the rounds when nothing was further from the truth,” he said.

“We have been asked to close meantime in the same way that everyone else has in this business.

“Nobody working here, or staying here, was suffering from the virus. All our 38 staff remain with us, albeit unable to work in line with the shutdown.”

Mr Brown said that, along with all other hotels in the strath, it was now just a waiting game until the situation became clearer.

“Along with everyone else we simply have no option but to take care and hope for the best.”
