Pupils at the strath's largest school are being sent home because of a heating problem.

Kingussie High School is being closed for the day with immediate affect.

Buses left the school at 9am to take pupils home.

A school spokesperson said in a message texted to parents and carers: "Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused."

Temperatures in Kingussie are currently around 1C and not expected to rise above 3C at any point in the day.

Highland Council is being contacted by the Strathy to gauge the extent of the problem.
