As Kingussie's Badenoch Centre reopened yesterday (Monday), High Life Highland was poised to open two more much-loved leisure facilities in the strath within a few weeks.
The reopening of both Craig MacLean Centre and Aviemore Community Centre will form part of discussions taking place this week between Highlife Highland and school head teachers in order for the facilities to be reopened.
On Monday other centres such as the Badenoch Centre, Inverness Leisure and Nairn were all reopened but some vital community services provided in schools remained closed due to the risk of the spread of the virus.
Fraser Tulloch, facility manager for both Craig Maclean Centre and Aviemore Community Centre said: “High Life Highland fully appreciates and supports the council’s decision to prioritise the safety of pupils as they have been returning to full-time education.
"The head teacher and I will be looking to commence discussions this week to identify ways in which we are able to allow Highlife members and customers to return safely back into joint school and community facilities while ensuring the safety of school pupils and staff.
Mr Tulloch continued: “We are hopeful that through a partnership approach we will be able to reopen all joint school and community locations within the two to three weeks.
"We will keep in touch with members through our website and social media channels.
"In the meantime, those members can continue to use Highlife Highland facilities that are now open and not attached to schools.”
