It has turned out that one of Badenoch and Strathspey's best kept culinary secrets may not be secret after-all.

The Old Post Office Cafe in Kincraig has just gone to the top of the regional charts on the influential Tripadvisor site.

The establishment – which is also an art gallery for the works of artist Ann Vastano and other painters – is now rated number one for best cafes in the Highlands.

It is not surprising then that customers have given it five stars out of five all of the way.

Owner and chef Toni Vastano said: "The number one spot was a lovely surprise and highlighted to us by a visitor who was looking for recommendations whilst travelling north.

"It’s been a tumultuous time in the catering world with so many challenges so this is really cheering and encouraging.

"We are very lucky to have such a motivated, positive team and wider local community support.

"Alongside the unique quality micro businesses we showcase, we count ourselves very fortunate to have such abundance of talent on our doorstep.

"There are many fantastic small family run and independent businesses in our area.

"It is more important than ever that we all get out and support them."
