They're still game at Newtonmore – especially if it's shinty!

Now a "Still Game activity and discussion day" is being lined up at the village's famous Highland Folk Museum.

A date has been set for April 16 April by the museum, who will host a special event aimed specifically at men in the Badenoch and Strathspey region.

Organised in association with the Highland Senior Citizens Network, the day will consist of discussions and activity sessions, with guest speakers from Badenoch Shinty Memories, the Scottish Men’s Sheds Association and the ‘Wise Guys’ initiative at the Highland Print Studio.

The Highland Print Studio will also be leading a special printmaking workshop, and there will be tours of the Highland Folk Museum’s collections stores to look at classic examples of tools and machinery from bygone eras.

Matthew Withey, curatorial manager at the Highland Folk Museum, said: "This event is a great opportunity to bring guys from the local community together for a bit of banter and the opportunity to hear about some of the things we’re doing at the museum that will interest them.

"We are especially pleased to have John Mackenzie from Badenoch Shinty Memories, and will be working more and more with that organisation over the next couple of years. "We’re also thrilled to be welcoming Jason Schroeder, chief executive officer at the Scottish Men’s Sheds Association”.

The event is free to enter and lunch will be served. Places can be booked through Joann Hopkins on 01349-781656 or joann.hopkins@highlifehighland.com.
