Historic Highland fishing lodge to battle it out in finals of BBC Scotland’s Home of the Year 2024

An historic Highland fishing lodge will feature in tonight’s televised grand final to find Scotland’s Home of the Year.
Earth House in the Aviemore area is among the six contenders for the prestigious title as the sixth series of the popular BBC One Scotland programme draws to a close.
Following a search the length and breadth of Scotland, interior designers Anna Campbell Jones and Banjo Beale along with architect Danny Campbell cast their votes for the winning home based on architectural merit, distinctive design and original style.

The final was filmed at Glasgow’s iconic House For An Art Lover - designed by world-renowned architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh – where the six finalists meet the judges for the first time and cast their eyes over each other’s homes.
Earth House, which featured in episode three, dates back to the 18th century and belongs to Dianne Dain and Salem Avan.
When the couple bought the property in 2016, it was in a neglected state and, over five years, they brought it back to life.
A BBC Scotland spokeswoman said: “This Highland sanctuary reflects the serenity of its surroundings as well as providing a haven for visiting family.
“Amongst its many features, Earth House includes a shower turret and a bathroom with a view.”
The other finalists are Quiney Cottage in Banchory, a 1960s bungalow in Milngavie, The Old Mill in Dunblane, Honeysuckle Cottage in Moffat and Coldwater in Linlithgow.
A new seventh series of the popular property show will begin filming locations around Scotland from July and air in 2025.
