A hillwalker was rescued after getting injured high up in the Cairngorms at the weekend.

The man was near the 3668 feet high summit of Sgòr Gaoith when he injured his leg.

Eight members of Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team were sent after the alarm was raised at 2.30pm on Saturday.

Team leader Iain Cornfoot said the walker was with a party of six and went over his ankle badly.

"He was unable to carry on," he said.

"Fortunately we were able to use one of our all terrain vehicles to reach him and get him off otherwise it would have been a very long stretcher carry.

"Many thanks to Glenfeshie Estate for the access, as always they were super helpful.

"We wish the casualty a speedy recovery."

The man was taken off the hill by around 5pm and his companions took him to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness to be checked over.
