A BUSY Highland trunk road is closed in both directions following a crash in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the crash involved one vehicle and occurred on the A95 at Boat of Garten at around 3.30am.

Three fire engines from Grantown-on-Spey, Aviemore and Carrbridge attended the scene before leaving at around 5am.

However, the road still remained closed at 9am, with Traffic Scotland advising motorists to follow signed diversions.

There was no immediate word on how many people were in the vehicle, the type of vehicle involved, or if anyone was injured.
