Trains halted at Aviemore after gas leak scare in Inverness

Trains are being stopped at Aviemore after news came that all trains from Inverness have been cancelled or delayed due to a gas leak near the Highland main line.

Firefighters have been called to an incident which reportedly involves a freight train at Inverness Maintenance Depot.

Safety concerns mean that all trains are unable to operate at present.

It is understood that disruption is expected to continue until mid-afternoon.

A response team is due to assess the damage.

ScotRail said all lines to Inverness are closed.

“Ticket acceptance is in place with Stagecoach North Scotland Buses and Scottish Citylink services between Inverness, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.

“Bus replacements are also confirmed to run between Perth and Inverness.

“Customers are advised to check the ScotRail app, website, or social media channels for service updates.”
