Highland Police issue new plea in search for missing sheep dog man

Police have renewed their appeal for information over a 36-year-old man, who was reported missing after his dog killed sheep while running loose in Drumnadrochit in the Highlands.

Searches are continuing for accountant Jason Gates from Portsmouth in Hampshire, who has been missing since March 17.

Police Scotland said a number of items of clothing have been found in the Drumnadrochit area.

Officers have recovered a yellow North Face jacket and a pair of black trousers - both of which are thought to belong to Mr Gates.

Mr Gates has also been captured on CCTV wearing a yellow outdoor jacket in Inverness on March 14..

He was staying in Aviemore with his treasured pet spaniel Max when the dog inadvertently raised the alarm about his master’s disappearance.

Police issued an appeal to trace Max’s owner after the dog attacked and killed sheep.

But they quickly became aware that he had been separated from his owner and, using the data contained in his microchip, linked him to Mr Gates.

Mr Gates is described as approximately 6ft 3in, of a slim build, with short cropped greying hair and facial stubble. It is not known what clothes he is wearing.

It is said that he often wears black jeans, a T-shirt, a black padded jacket and tweed jacket, and possibly walking boots. He may also be in possession of a rucksack.

Police are keeping the family of Mr Gates updated and thanked the public are thanked for their ongoing support.
