Highland Council confirms the locations of Books of Condolences and Gardens of Remembrance that are now open across the north as Convener Bill Lobban calls on locals to pay their respects to Her Majesty The Queen as it 'may help us come to terms with such a loss at this sad time'

Highland Council confirms the locations of dozens of Books of Condolences and Gardens of Remembrance for people to pay their respects to the Queen.

Convener Bill Lobban has called on locals to show their respects and come together as it "may help us come to terms with such a loss at this sad time."

He was speaking after a visit to Inverness Cathedral’s Garden of Remembrance, where he was joined by Inverness Provost Glynis Sinclair and the chief executive of Highland Council Donna Manson.

Convener Lobban said: “Coming together to express our respects and share our condolences may help us come to terms with such a loss at this sad time.

“I know I speak for many people when I say our heartfelt sympathies are with the Royal Family.

“The Gardens of Remembrance will be a focus for people to come and pay tribute to the life and service of Her Majesty and the Books of Condolences will provide an opportunity for personal messages to be left.”
