Members of Highland Council's local committee have agreed the priorities for road repairs in Badenoch and Strathspey for the coming financial year.

The overall budget for the strath for 2023/24 is £473,737.

The funds are split into two pots, one covering overlay and inlay work with a budget of £232,025 and the other is for surface dressing with£241,712 allocated.

Councillor Bill Lobban, chair of the Badenoch and Strathspey area committee, said: “In recent years the council has made a huge effort to improve the condition of our roads by adding significant additional funding.

“Despite the challenging financial position for local authorities throughout Scotland, I hope we can manage to sustain a level of investment that ensures roads in Badenoch and Strathspey can be kept in good condition.”

The area capital programme for 2023/24 agreed at the meeting held at Grantown's Courthouse earlier today will include:

• resurfacing work on stretch of the B970 Coylumbridge to Kingussie road (estimated cost of £34,300).

• Road improvement works on the A939 A95 Junction to Bridge of Brown (estimated cost of £241,080 with funds coming from strategic committee).

• Resurfacing works on the B970 A95 junction to Coylumbridge (estimated cost of £60,025).

• Road improvement works on the B9102 A939 junction to the council boundary (£38,640).
