Today, a statement from the practice read: "We are sorry to tell you that the situation has worsened over the weekend, and our cover for the coming week is under even more strain.

"In order to maintain appointment availability for patients with urgent issues, patients with appointments already booked for this week may receive phone calls asking these to be changed to another GP or a later date.

"Our remaining staff are working additional hours to try and give as much cover as possible, but the situation is expected to continue for this week. We are really grateful for your patience and support during this time."

Patients are advised that for non-urgent enquiries, they should refer to the practice's eConsult service.

This can be accessed from the button on the practice website at grantownmedicalpractice.co.uk.

The practice aims to respond to queries by the end of the following working day.

Patients who do not have access to the internet, or if a matter is urgent, are advised to call as normal and a receptionist will answer the call.

In an emergency patients are advised to dial 999.
