Great ski conditions on offer at Cairngorm Mountain

Snowsports fans have today been enjoy some of the best conditions of the season – both underfoot and overhead – at Cairngorm Mountain.

The resort is reporting excellent visibility and light winds with some excellent snow cover. Temperatures at the top are around -6 Centigrade.

A Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) spokesperson said that around six centimetres of snow fell overnight with some nice light powder on a firm base providing great sport.

She said: "All of the main pistes are starting to build up a good cover."

Interim CMSL chief executive Susan Smith said: "We have about 600 customers accessing the slopes in excellent conditions today enjoying skiing and snowboarding at the resort.

"There is lots of snow and the car park is full with skiers and snowboarders enjoying great skiing on the mountain.

"The outlook for the next few days and into the weekend looks good and we are hopeful that our customers will be able to make the most of these wonderful facilities.

Five out of the 12 lifts are currently running: the Fiacaill Ridge Poma, M1 Poma, Car Park T-bar, Coire Cas T-bar and Snowbadger trainer rope tow.

With the M1 Poma in operation, it means skiers and boarders can access the upper slopes which for much of the season have been out of bounds due to insufficient snow.

Around 25 centimetres of snow fell at the ski resort yesterday. The clouds have given way to sunshine today.
