NHS Highland has praised the local community in Grantown for their response after an outbreak of a cluster of Covid-19 cases.
A Mobile Testing Unit was sent to the area last week to test people without symptoms following cases having been identified as a variant under investigation.
The testing unit has now left the area and as yet no further cases have been identified.
Dr Tim Allison, NHS Highland’s Director of Public Health, said: “The community engagement throughout this period has been fantastic. I want to thank everyone who booked a test.
“The original contact tracing combined with the actions of the local community in following advice has been effective in containing the spread of this Covid-19 variant in Grantown.
"No further cases have been identified which highlights there is no evidence of community spread of the virus.
“The community’s response to, and participation in, the enhanced outbreak management has enabled us to conclude that the cluster is contained.
“It has always been the case that the public have an important part to play in containing the spread of Covid-19 and the people in Grantown have led by example over the last few weeks.
“Lockdown measures are slowly being lifted and we are beginning to see light at the end of what has been a long and dark tunnel.
“It is even more important than ever before that we continue to follow FACTS – wear a face covering, avoid crowded places, clean your hands regularly, maintain two metres distance and self-isolate and book a test if you have symptoms.”
