Grantown is grieving today's closure of its final bank building.

The Strathspey capital's community council posted a sad farewell at the Bank of Scotland postered its own in the window in the imposing building on the corner of The Square:

"Today sees the closure of the Bank of Scotland at No 1 the Square...Grantown’s last bank.

"Originally the Caledonian Bank, it was purpose-built in 1867 and has served the community well for all these years.

"What does the future see for this building and banking services for the town?" the community council asked.

The response from the notice in the window was:

"We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. You can still access your Bank of Scotland accounts in a choice of ways to suit you."

One is a trip to Forres.

Another is a shorter trek to Aviemore, which still has a High Street bank with counter service at this stage.

BoS also reminds local people that it has a mobile service and there is always the Post Office, at this stage.

The rest, of course, is IT, via phones and the internet.
