The Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team will now have a state-of-the-art life-saving device to hand for emergency call-outs thanks to Glenmore campsite.

The volunteers have said they are very grateful for the donation of the new lightweight defibrillator.

They hope the donation marks the start of a long partnership between the two organisations.

Iain Cornfoot, leader of the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, said: “Glenmore Campsite kindly got in touch to ask if there was anything they could do to assist the team.

“They wanted to donate a sum of money to an item.

“At that point we were starting to upgrade all of our defibrillators to go with our new CPR machine that had been donated as well.

“We are very grateful for their support especially for equipment that is so vitally important.

“They are very small and the latest defibrillators on the market.

“It means that we can easily take them onto the hill and we can also use them for specific checks such as hypothermia and on avalanche casualties as they have an ECG trace so the doctors and paramedics in the team can see what a casualty’s heart is doing.”

A Glenmore campsite spokesperson said: “When we took over the site in December 2022, we felt it was only right that we set up a fund to give back to the community that we are so lucky to be part of.

“The local community work really well together, and we are enjoying building strong relationships with those dedicated to benefiting the area. We recently brought Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team a new special defibrillator to help with rescue missions that unfortunately happen out on the mountains.

“To date we have also worked with Aviemore Primary School, Kingussie High School, Aviemore Bowling Club, and Aviemore Community Council.

“We look forward to continuing these relationships and building more partnerships donating to worthwhile causes in the local area.”
