Frost bites hard into Badenoch and Strathspey

This morning's Highland road conditions report confirms the plunging temperatures in the strath.

Issued at 6.48, the report stated: "Badenoch and Strathspey very cold this morning with frost and icy patches throughout the area.

"All routes being treated as well as all footpath routes.

"There were no known overnight issues."

On neighbouring Nairn and Inverness routes there are frost pathes on the higher levels and damp roads on the lower areas, with heavy fog.

"Inverness is dry overhead, roads still damp.

"We are covering all routes and footpaths."

There are no schools or nurseries closed today as a result of bad weather by the time the report was issued.

There are currently no Met Office warnings covering the Highlands.
