An Aviemore community-based events company is inviting the public to attend a free festival of cycling event this Saturday.

Craic Events, with support from Event Scotlands National Community Cycling Fund, are hosting the Cairngorms Cycle Festival as part of a national celebration of the power of the bike and the build up to the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.

The event is a free cycle festival open to all.

With support from the Cairngorms National Park Authority, the Cairngorms Trust, the Cairngorms Business Partnership and several local bike shops, the event will be free to all.

The community cycling event, based at the Macdonald Resort in the centre of Aviemore this Saturday, June 24, plans to host several activities on the day, designed to highlight and utilise many of the safe off road trails and routes in the area.

A spokesperson for Craic Events said: "The event will have particular focus on riding safe and easy routes to get from home to village and town centres, so that some car journey can be effectively reduced. It will also focus on the inclusion of older and new riders who have yet to experience e-bikes, who therefore might not yet be aware of their huge potential for general day-to-day travel and life."

Visitors are also invited to pre-register for marshalled cycle rides around Strathspey via "The Spokes".
