FIFTEEN more people within the NHS Highland area have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, figures released today reveal.

It brings the total recorded across the health board area to 1574.

The latest statistics follow yesterday's record-breaking 98 new Covid-19 cases within the NHS Highland – the region's single largest daily increase since the pandemic began.

That was put down in large part to an outbreak at the Royal Navy's Faslane naval base, which lies within the Argyll and Bute area of the large patch NHS Highland area covers.

The statistics released today by the Scottish Government include 777 new cases of Covid-19 reported across Scotland.

Sadly, 22 deaths of people who have tested positive were also reported in that time period.

A total of 64 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmedCovid-19.

And some 945 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19.

There were 210 more cases in Greater Glasgow and Clyde; 149 in Lothian and 69 in Grampian.

The Western Isles, Shetland and Orkney all recorded no new cases.
