A famous Indian actor has been sharing the charms of Aviemore on his social media account to his three million plus followers.

Ashish Vidyarthi, who has over 300 film and TV credits by his name, was wowed by the village's listed Victorian railway station and the Charcoal restaurant which it houses.

Staff at the venue were left star-struck by his unexpected first appearance on Saturday night.

Bosses at Charcoal said that Ashish Vidyarthi was so impressed with his meal at the restaurant – which specialises in Mediterranean and Indian dishes – that he returned for a second visit the next day.

The legendary actor works in 11 languages but predominantly in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, English, Odia, Marathi and Bengali films.

It would seem that he spent a few days in the Aviemore area after having arrived on the Flying Scotsman which is currently running up and down the Strathspey Steam Railway line.

The actor was very impressed with his meal at Charcoal - so impressed in fact that he returned the next night.

He said: “So we are very excited we are going to Edinburgh.”

“If you have any suggestions as to what we could do at Edinburgh, if you have some friends, if you have some interesting restaurants you think that we should be visiting in Edinburgh do let us know.”

The actor's YouTube channel has more than one million subscribers and he often vlogs about food.

According to the web, Ashish Vidyarthi is noted for his 'antagonist and character roles'.
