Family of the Queen make their way to Balmoral as concerns for health are announced
The family of the Queen have been rushing to her bedside in Balmoral, after concerns for her health.
The palace issued a statement this afternoon stating: “Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.”
“The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”
The 96-year-old is the UKs longest ruling monarch and had been spending summer at her house in Balmoral, Scotland.
MP Ian Blackford’s speech at the House of Commons today was interrupted with the news.
He has since tweeted: “Deeply concerning news from Balmoral which has been announced by Buckingham Palace this afternoon.
“Her Majesty The Queen & her family are in my thoughts & prayers at this time, and I join everyone across Scotland & the UK in wishing her a speedy recovery.”
Family of the Queen are en-route to her residence.
A Clarence House spokesman said: “Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have travelled to Balmoral.”
A Kensington palace spokesman said: “The Duke of Cambridge is travelling to Balmoral.”
A spokesman for Harry and Meghan said they were also travelling to Balmoral. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were due to attend the WellChild awards ceremony in London on Thursday evening, but have changed their plans to travel to see the Queen,” the spokesman said.
BBC One has suspended its usual programming until 6pm in light of the news.
