Transport Scotland have announced that, for operational reasons, the surfacing improvements project on the A889 West of Catlodge will need an additional night of work.

The extra time will allow teams to complete the project safely.

The additional night of work is set to get underway on Sunday (July 12) and will take place between 7pm and 7am. The road will remain open outwith these working hours.

A spokesperson said on Friday: "The traffic management will remain the same as used previously with an overnight road closure in place during working hours due to the narrow road widths on this section of the A889.

"To help minimise disruption, a diversion will be in place via the A9 and A86 between Dalwhinnie and Laggan.

"Emergency services will be able to pass through at all times and local access for residents living within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area."

Real-time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.trafficscotland.org , twitter at @trafficscotland or via the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.

The £205,000 project began last Sunday (July 5).

It will see almost 1.5km of carriageway resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

To help minimise disruption, a diversion is in place via the A9 and A86 between Dalwhinnie and Laggan. The road is open during the day, with a 30mph speed limit in place as road users travel over a temporary surface.

Emergency services are able to pass through at all times and local access for residents living within the closure points is maitained when it safe to pass through the work area.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.
