The Cairngorms National Park Authority is to hold an extra planning meeting next week in order to help cope with the workflow caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

The CNPA's planning committee has added an extra meeting to its schedule and will be held next Friday.
The CNPA's planning committee has added an extra meeting to its schedule and will be held next Friday.

The public virtual meeting will take place next Friday but in the afternoon - starting at 2.30pm - rather than convening in the morning as usual.

The first planning meeting held by video-link a fortnight ago ran smoothly.

A CNPA spokeswoman said: "This is a one-off extra meeting because we had a number of applications ready to be determined and we didn’t want big agendas for the first couple of virtual committee meetings in case there were problems.

"Virtual meetings will be on normal schedule after this one."

The two main items for Badenoch and Strathspey at the forthcoming meeting are applications by Cairngorm Mountain – for the introduction of car park barriers and the installation of two tube slides and extension and realignment of the existing tube slide – both for sites at the Coire Cas car park.

The CNPA's planning meetings are usually held monthly. The next planning meeting is scheduled for June 26 and will also be held via video link.

There will be a formal board meeting in the morning of next Friday and the public will also be able to watch proceedings.
