Emergency services have been attending a road accident near Aviemore this morning.

The two vehicle collision occurred around one mile south of the Lynwilg junction.

The A9 was closed in both directions following the accident at around 8.45am.

Traffic Scotland reported an hour ago that all lanes were restricted but the northbound carriageway has been cleared.

A police spokesman said: “Police were called to a report of a road crash on the A9 near Aviemore involving a van at around 8.45am on Tuesday, May 24.

“Officers attended, however the van had left the area. Inquiries are ongoing to establish more details.”

The Strathy has contacted police for more information on casualties and if the road has re-opened.
