The region's cumulative number of cases rose from 1819 to 1837 when the latest daily update was published.

There were 1190 new cases of Covid-19 reported across Scotland in the past 24 hours.

And, of those, 56 people were in intensive care. This was down four on Tuesday's update.

But sadly there were a further 47 deaths among people who previously tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new cases in NHS Orkney or NHS Eileanan Siar, but NHS Shetland detected one fresh infection, taking its tally to 78.

And NHS Tayside detected 99 infections, for a running tally of 7347.
