UNDER canvas, the Highlands-based trad music festival, will see 39 days of live sessions from July 5-August 26.

Eden Court’s flagship outdoor summer festival is now in its fifth year.

The line-up at the Inverness venue features Scottish traditional music, performance and DJ sets, and a bar serving pizzas from an outdoor wood-fired pizza oven, as well as local beers, gins and whisky.

In 2022, Under Canvas attracted 15,000 people to 42 days of entertainment and employed 232 Highland artists.

Last summer’s trad line-up included Norrie MacIver, Gary Innes and Ewen Henderson, as well as 2023 BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award Finalists Ailis Sutherland and Mairi McGillivray.

Project Smok and Valtos provided some neo-trad while Inverness

DJ Karawane held a weekend world music residency.

Bogha-frois, a community of queer folk musicians including Malin Lewis, Laura Wilkie and Pedro Cameron (Man of the Minch), also presented new pieces commissioned by Eden Court which represent queer voices in Scotland.

This year’s festival will feature its own series of special events.

The call for artists is now open to acts and bands who have not played at Under Canvas before.
