MOTORISTS heading for Highland beauty spots this Easter are being urged to park responsibly.

The Cairngorm National Park and Police Scotland have both put out separate pleas as the region welcomes a flood of visitors during the Easter weekend and school holidays.

Taking to Twitter this morning, the national park said: "Many car parks will be busy as people enjoy the long weekend. Make sure you have a 'plan B' before setting out and please park responsibly."

Their comments came just hours after police warned motorists on Skye following issues at a famous tourist spot.

Warning drivers parking at the Kilt Rock viewpoint that traffic wardens will be out, a police spokesman said: "Police Scotland is aware of the ongoing issues with parking at the area around the Kilt Rock viewpoint on the A855 on the Isle of Skye.

"The Highland Council have a Clearway Notice in place for the roadway. Parking in the clearway is an offence and is enforceable by means of fixed penalty notices issued by the Highland Council Traffic Enforcement Officers."
