The break-up of a relationship led to a 22 year old Inverness man taking a street drug.

But Jason Flint of St Francis Gardens got behind the wheel of his car on July 16, 2020, and drove on the A95 near Drumuillie, Boat of Garten.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told earlier today he was stopped by police due to having only one operational light.

Fiscal depute Emma MacEwan said when he got out of his vehicle, he was unsteady on his feet and slurring his words.

Flint admitted driving while unfit through drink or drugs and possession of a small amount of cannabis.

Defence solicitor Marc Dickson told Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald of the failed romance.

"He was at a low ebb, socialised with a friend and took what he thought was valium. But it was another street drug."

Flint was banned from driving for a year and fined £470.
