Driving conditions on three key bridges serving the Highlands are being hampered by high winds.

The alert from Traffic Scotland comes amid a Met Office Yellow weather warning for wind.

Traffic Scotland says high winds are affecting driving conditions on the Kessock and Dornoch Bridges on the A9 and also on the Skye Bridge on the A87.

The funicular and snowsports at Cairngorm Mountain will also be closed today due to high winds.

Currently winds of 50 to 60 mph at the base station with a temperature of +3c. The wind is forecast to reach gust speeds of 70 mph at the base of the mountain. Snow is expected by late afternoon as temperatures drop.

CalMac ferries are also being hit by the wind.

Due to strong south-westerly winds in excess of 69mph, the following sailings are cancelled:

Depart Stornoway - 06:00, 13:00

Depart Ullapool - 09:30

A delay to the departure of the 16:30 from Ullapool sailing is possible if weather remains unsuitable at the time of sailing.

CalMac said: "Cancelling a sailing is a decision we do not take lightly because we know it will inconvenience our customers and the communities we serve. However, the safety of our customers and crew must come first. In this instance, the Master of the vessel has judged it is necessary in response to the assessment of adverse weather conditions."

The Met Office wind warning remains in place today until 5pm today.
