Walkhighlands is to release Great Scottish Walks, a guide to Scotland’s best multi-day hikes.

The book features 26 routes, plus an overview of the Scottish National Trail – an epic route linking many of the best trails to create an end-to-end traverse of the entire country.

Helen and Paul Webster, the founders of Walkhighlands said: "Since the West Highland Way was established in 1980, snaking its way up from the edge of Glasgow and through the Highlands, the popularity of multi-day hiking in Scotland has exploded.

"Luckily, so too have the number of trails. For a small country, Scotland certainly packs a punch in the variety of its landscape. Whether you have a long weekend or a multi-week challenge in mind, there is a Great Scottish Walk for you."

The Websters share a passion for walking and wild places. In 2003–2004 they undertook a life-changing 4,000-mile continuous backpacking trip across Europe. Following their return, they quit their careers to begin a new life evangelising for Scotland’s spectacular outdoors – especially the Highlands and Islands.

Together they set up Walkhighlands, a free online guide and forum which has become the busiest walkers’ website in the UK.

They have also written twenty guidebooks to various areas of Scotland, including Scottish Island Bagging, and in 2018 Paul won the Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year competition. They live in the Cairngorms National Park.

"Great Scottish Walks is now available to pre-order," the Websters announced.
