As it devastates trees across Badenoch and Strathspey as it sweeps the Highlands, partner agencies have been meeting to discuss the impacts of Storm Gerrit.
There are multiple trees and power lines down blocking numerous routes across the Lochaber area including the A82 trunk road. There are also very long tailbacks on the A9 due to severe snow conditions at Drumochter.
"Highland Council roads teams are assisting with clearing trees, where it is safe to do so," said a spokesperson.
People are advised to avoid travel unless essential in these areas today.

In Kincraig, the Brae was blocked for an hour after a large pine crashed from the grounds of Forces Manor and landed in the grounds of Ard Insh.
Traffic built up but as Tony Brown, of Forces Manor, told the Strathy: "We were actually amazingly fortunate.
"Firstly, the tree was blown over at a break in the traffic and nobody was anywhere near it as it fell.
"Then a team of workmen happened to be there on their way to assisting with localised power cuts in the area.
"They promptly got out of their van, with all the necessary equipment to hand, and proceeded to clear the tree from the road. They were brilliant and just go on with it."
Within the hour the tree was cleared and the road open again.
But there were incidents in many other areas.
Only half a mile down the road another huge pine was down at the Insh Kirk bends and blocked the road.
There have been further trees down on the Feshiebridge Road just before Inshriach Nurseries and other strategic points.
