No new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Highlands since yesterday, Scottish Government statistics have revealed.

The number of people who have tested positive in the NHS Highland area since the start of the outbreak remains at 340 - although the number of those who are being treated in hospital rose by one, to eight, at midnight last night.

Across Scotland there were 14 newly-confirmed cases of the virus, taking the official Scottish total to 15,653.

Seven further deaths have also been reported among those who have tested positive in Scotland, taking the national toll to 2422. The freshly-confirmed deaths followed two days where no additional deaths were recorded, although officials had warned that the weekend might cause a delay in some of the figures.

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no fresh diagnoses in Orkney, Shetland or Eileanan Siar.

NHS Grampian recorded one new positive test, to see its overall tally rise to 1287. Of those, 62 were receiving treatment in its hospitals last night (a rise of two on yesterday).

NHS Tayside, meanwhile, also registered one new case, to take its total to 1678. The number of those in hospital last night also rose by one case, to eight.
