Residents are being sought to give a voice to their local communities in Badenoch and Strathspey.

Community councils in Cromdale, Newtonmore and Dalwhinnie have all gone into abeyance in recent times due to resignations.

Now the official notice has gone out from the Highland Council giving details of how candidates can put themselves forward.

Resignations amongst the Cromdale and Advie ranks brought the membership down to below half its total of seven and the interim election will seek to fill five vacancies.

At Dalwhinnie, the watchdog is currently below half of its membership of eight and five vacancies have arisen. Newtonmore has also seen its numbers halved.

The deadline for nominations for all three bodies is May 28 at 4pm. For more details contact Liz Cowie, Highland Council’s ward manager for the area, by email at liz.cowie@highland.gov.uk.
