There's free range poultry and then there's...well, the Dava Moor!

Bemused cyclists enjoying the open road on Sunday were amazed to find this family strolling around quite happy along the great Speyside Way.

"We came across these five cockerels on the Dava Way," said photographer Alasdair Macpherson from Kingussie, "when we were cycling the route.

"There are no houses anywhere near them.

"They seem to be living just beside the road at a lay-by.

"We all found it very strange.

"It struck us that they had possibly been dumped by someone, or lost by someone. But they are all healthy enough."

The cyclists carried on up to Logie Steading for the afternoon, but were astonished to find after their 30-mile round trip the birds were still happily gathered in the area.

"They were still there quite happy when we got back to our car.

"This is about four miles from Grantown. We just wondered if anyone knew about them."
