Kingussie mains repaired after morning breakage

Scottish Water have confirmed that repairs to a burst water pipe which caused the interruption to water supplies for customers in Kingussie have been completed.

But a spokesperson said: "We estimate it will take up to two hours for all customers to have their water supply restored.

"The water supply will gradually come in to service for customers during this period."

One caller told the Strathy: "It's coming back now, but we seem to be getting chocolate flavour at the moment!"

While the supply is being restored consumer may experience no water supply, low or intermittent pressure or discoloured water.

The break occurred this morning as work continued on an access road to a new housing development off the High Street at the northern end of the town.

Both the High School and Primary School were forced to close, with pupils gaining an early day off.

Shops and offices were also forced to close.

Scottish Water have no as yet confirmed precisely how many consumers were affected by the disruption.
