STV's weather report was delivered by Sean Batty this evening from a stunning Loch Morlich but it came with a chilly warning.

The Cairngorms were looking at their very best in the background as some sun seekers strolled along the beach.

The Highlands has recorded the warmest temperatures in the UK over the past two days but the TV weatherman warned that will change come next week.

Introducing the weather forecast, Batty said: "Ah it's lovely, any excuse to get out of the studio.

"The Highlands has had the warmest spot in the UK so far this year. I am in Aviemore where the temperatures peaked at around 18 and 19 degrees Centigrade.

"The warmest spot was once again Kinlochewe like yesterday with 21C so very, very pleasant indeed."

He pointed out to news presenter Norman Macleod in the studios that the east coast was considerably cooler with Aberdeen recording a measly 12C.

Macleod gave the strath a nice plug, pointing out: "What a stunning location there where you are Sean. How long is this settled weather going to last?"

Batty replied: "I know it is great with that wee bit of snow still up on the hills. The snow that's up there – guess what – it could be heading back down here next week."

Then producing a pot of flowers, the weatherman advised: "A lot of people run out and buy their little bedding plants at this time of year forgetting that it still does get really cold at night – it will be -3C here tonight but next week there are colder conditions coming in so watch out for those plants."

The BBC weather forecast is currently saying that snow will arrive on Monday evening and continue throughout Tuesday.
