Grantown-based Highfern Ltd has just released its latest single malt whisky offering and it marks a change of direction for the company.

The Angel's Nectar Oloroso Sherry Cask Edition is the latest addition to the producer's small batch releases.

Highfern chief Robert Ransom said: "This latest release, distilled in Highland Perthshire, is a single malt which has been matured for six years in former oloroso sherry casks, and bottled at 46 per cent.

"It is a limited edition of 2244 bottles.

"This release marks a step change for Angels’ Nectar proprietor Highfern Ltd, as it has been created from casks matured by the company."

Mr Ransom said the sherry casks have given this whisky a 'wonderful dark colour, and created a rich whisky with a refined sweet nose with hints of polished mahogany, followed by fudge and moist fruit cake on the taste'.

Export shipments are already en-route to Japan and Germany but the new malt is also available closer to home including in the The Claymore, Grant Arms and Mortimer's in Grantown and the Speyside Centre at Skye of Curr, as well as online at www.highfern.com
