Limited snowsports are on offer on the lower slopes of Cairngorm Mountain over the festive holidays.

But ski chiefs have said they are fully booked for the 150 slots available for using the beginners zone.

The resort re-opened today with Cairngorm Mountain stating there are only light winds in contrast to the gales which hit the high tops on over Christmas.

The Snowbadger trainer rope tow and Lower Car Park T-Bar are in operation.

The slopes opened at 9.30am with very light winds and the temperature +2C and clear overhead conditions.

The snow has been produced by the Snowfactory and fan guns.

Cairngorm Mountain Scotland Ltd chief executive Susan Smith told the Strathy: "We are fully booked on the beginner zone right through until 9 January, 2022.

"It’s been a great success for beginner lessons.

"The snow is good and customers are very pleased with the product on offer."

A CMSL spokesperson said: "Lift passes and equipment rental will not be available to book during this period and any changes to this will be widely communicated, however, season pass holders do not need to book in advance."

The adventure play area and tubing park are also open.

The resort has said the current weather forecast does not suggest snow until mid to late January.
