Are you looking to build your own house? Or do you want to do some renovations to your property or even restore a historic building? Got the vision but have no idea where to start? Luckily, an event is coming to the region that can help you with everything you need to make your dream become a reality!

The Scottish Self-Build and Renovation conference is taking place at the Macdonald Aviemore Resort on Saturday, September 16 and this free-to-attend event is jam-packed with experts geared up and looking forward to supporting you with your project.

You will be able to find innovative products and services, providing you with the tools you need to progress your project to the highest of standards.

Under one roof you will find local and national self-build and renovation experts ready to offer you one-to-one advice sessions providing help on everything from plot finding early design and planning, heating lighting and energy efficiency and renewables, to high-tech sound and vision systems!

Scottish Self-Build and Renovation (SSBR) was launched by Aberdeen-based quantity surveyor Gavin Esslemont in 2018 to provide a showcase for the flourishing sector in the north-east of Scotland and has since established annual events in Tayside and the Highlands.

Gavin said: “We are really looking forward to our event in Aviemore, and we have a lot more exhibitors this year for people to come and chat to.

“Alongside over 60 exhibitors, we also have five seminars, with experts who will provide relevant information for those attending.”

Seminar topics range from finance and insurance, kitchen design and interiors, to creating private water supplies, heat pump systems, solar PV and battery storage.

Last year, the Self-Build conference saw 150 projects come through the door, with people gathering useful information and contacts for their dream homes and conversions.

Alongside the event, SSBR also has an online information portal where self-build renovation and restoration enthusiasts can find expert advice at their fingertips.

Gavin said: “As the popularity of self-build projects continues to grow in Scotland, it’s great to see Scottish Self-Build and Renovation supported by the industry and self-build enthusiasts throughout Scotland.

“We are creating the opportunity to connect the sector both face-to-face and online throughout the year and throughout North Scotland.

“SSBR is all about connecting self-build and renovation innovators and project enthusiasts locally, meaning that travel is minimised and people can get continued local advice for their projects.

“We encourage attendees to prepare by going on the website, checking out who will be there and who they want to see, and bringing along drawings, photos and visuals so they can get the best out of the event.

“Be prepared to spend the day getting the information that you need, attend the seminars, take a coffee break and enjoy the relaxed environment. Folks can make a real day of it and gain insight to help with their visions.”
