Cracked rail at Kingussie leads to hold up all day

Disruption between Perth and Inverness on the Highland Main Line is expected to continue today until at least 4pm.

The problems started at 11.28 this morning, a ScotRail spokesperson confirmed.

"A broken rail at Kingussie is causing disruption to journeys between Perth and Inverness.

"As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled or revised.

"Disruption is expected until 16:00."

Passengers are being told that they can travel via Aberdeen.

"However, journey times will be extended significantly."

Those who have left the train have been informed they can use their ticket on City Link route M90 between Edinburgh and Inverness.

Rail replacement buses have been arranged run between Perth and Inverness.

The first of them left Kingussie Railway Station at 12.15.
