A Boat of Garten man who was banned from contacting his partner by a bail condition or to be in Inverness was persuaded by her to drive her to a party.

But on the way there on July 26, last year, 30 year old Dylan Ritchie of Craigie Avenue, crashed his car near Mains of Garten, striking a fence and causing the vehicle to roll several times.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that on August 6, Ritchie was found at a property in Ashton Road, Inverness in breach of the special bail condition which only permitted him to be in the Highland Capital for court appearances or legal consultations.

He did not cooperate with police who tried to enter the house to apprehend him by tensing his arms and legs.

Ritchie pleaded guilty to failing to report an accident, breaching bail and resisting arrest.

Sentence was deferred for a background report.

Defending, Rory Gowans told Sheriff Sara Matheson: "She approached him. The relationship is now over. He says he hit a deer and the vehicle crashed."

Ritchie was fined a total of £640, had his driving licence endorsed with six penalty points and an 18 months non-harassment order imposed to protect his former partner.
