BEAR Scotland will continue to look after Badenoch and Strathspey's key trunk roads

BEAR Scotland will continue to manage and maintain some of the main trunk roads in Badenoch and Strathspey.

The firm has been named as the preferred bidder of Transport Scotland’s new network management contract for the North West of Scotland.

The region includes the A9 Perth-Inverness, A86 Newtonmore-Fort William and A889 Dalwhinnie to Laggan roads.

BEAR Scotland retains responsibility for over 1,422km of trunk roads across the North West of Scotland until at least 2030 with the option of a potential four year extension.

The company has been responsible for the North West trunk roads since 2013.

Iain Murray, managing director of BEAR Scotland said: “Retaining responsibility for the North West Trunk Road Network demonstrates the ongoing strength and value of the services we provide.

"It is a testament to the quality of work delivered by our teams and shows we can step up to the enhanced requirements of the new contract.

“We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with Transport Scotland to manage and maintain the trunk roads across the North West of the country, providing crucial lifelines for the people of Scotland.”

Other routes covered by the contract are the A82 Balloch to Inverness; A83 Tarbet – Lochgilphead – Campbeltown; A84/A85 Stirling to Crianlarich; A85 Perth to Lochearnhead; A85 Tyndrum to Oban; A87 Invergarry – Kyle of Lochalsh – Borve – Uig; A99 Latheron to Wick; A828 Connel to South Ballachulish; A830 Fort William to Mallaig; A835 Tore to Ullapool and A887 Invermoriston to Moriston Bridge.
