A Badenoch pharmacy adviser has prescribed a healthy injection of funds for her favourite local charity – at the cost of her own hair.

Louise Mcrae, who works at Boots the Chemist in Kingussie’s High Street, is going to prove herself a good neighbour to Caberfeidh Horizons, just three doors down.

“It’s a really good cause,” she told the Strathy as she prepared to sacrifice her locks on Friday (17).

Caberfeidh’s project manager Carolyn Cornfield said: “I am so pleased that in these strange and challenging times Boots has chosen us as their nominated charity. Louise is very generous and brave to have her head shaved for us.”

The event will also mark Boots’ contribution to Mental Health Awareness Week.

Louise said: “That too is a cause close to my heart as I have known people who have suffered from mental ill health. I’m only too happy to help.”

The 35-year-old adviser will place her beloved tresses in the hands of her sister, Lisa, who will be allowed to get close enough to do the job.

Louise has opted to have her head shaved outside of the Boots branch at 4pm.

Donations can be made in the shop and at Caberfeidh Horizons, next door.
