Badenoch and Strathspey remembers

There will be special services of remembrance across the strath's war memorials this morning, with the earliest set for Laggan at 9am.

The Strathy has been informed by the Church that those who wish to attend should arrive in good time for the following services:

Kincraig 10.45am

Kingussie 10.45am

Newtonmore 12.30pm

Dalwhinnie 3pm

Insh 4.30pm.

At Kingussie's Gynack Gardens there will be an extra service with wreathes laid at the Indian War Memorial.

"To make it more relevant to the community this year, we will be involving local school children reading 'In Flanders Fields'," said spokesman Gilmour Strang, "presenting a short biography on two casualties – brothers James and John Macdonald.

"We will also have a piper playing the lament.

"The services will be followed by complimentary tea and coffee at the Duke of Gordon Hotel."
