This morning's roads condition report for Badenoch and Strathspey, issued at 6.09am, confirms that temperatures have been higher than expected throughout the strath – but care is still needed.

"Surface water on roads throughout the area due to heavy rain fall overnight.

"Drivers are advised to take care."

There were no known overnight issues, said the Highland Council's report.

On neighbouring Inverness and Nairn routes the road were wet but there were no problems.

In fact on the Nairn side, winter action had been cancelled: "A lot of surface water on the roads throughout the area." At the time of issue, there were no schools and nurseries closed.

But the Met Office have issued a Yellow Warning for snow and ice for Highland (Friday and Saturday).

All weather warnings are available on the Met Office website.
