Heading for a Highland Hogmanay





Strathspey and Badenoch are busy preparing for their Hogmanay celebrations.

At Kingussie there will be a revival of the Badenoch capital's big torchlight procession.

Organisers have confirmed torches will be on sale at The Cross, Kingussie, from 11.15pm on the night.

"The parade leaves the High Street at 11.30pm and we will all gather at the Market Stance/shinty clubhouse by 11.55pm, where there will be a free dram for everyone and free hot drinks too.

"Stovies will be provided as well, although donations will be very welcome."

The fireworks will start bang on midnight and there will be a few collecting buckets to help cover costs for the show.

Then the dancing will start at the stance from 12.15pm, with a licensed bar open until 2am.

At Nethybridge a torchlight procession will leave Lynstock at 7pm. Prior to that there will be Bothy Box supplying hot drinks from 6pm.

At Carrbridge Hotel there will be a masquerade ball and banquet, disco and karaoke from 7pm.

In Aviemore too there will be fireworks at the Cairngorm Hotel at the bells.

The Andrew Macdonald Ceilidh Band will be playing at Boat of Garten Village Hall from 8pm, the tickets now available from Boat Post Office.

Grantown will have "Hogmanay and a half" with footstomping band 'Smuid' & fiddler Maggie Adamson, and fireworks, bagpipes and mulled wine at 11pm-1am in the Square.
