Tesco Aviemore staff have won the Group 1 Tesco Got Talent competition.
There were 21 stores participating in the event but only one of them had 'video king' Ruairidh McDonald fronting them.
The award-winning musical theatre student, who as a child singer featured in a global mobile phone promo alongside footballing legend Lionel Messi, led the way singing the Tina Turner classic 'Proud Mary'.
"But I'm not the star," he insisted today, telling the Strathy that the team was the star.
"We thought it was a bit of fun at first – this was before the coronavirus was quite as restrictive as it is now and we worked really well together.
"The real credit must go to the store's Kelly Brannan, who did a superb job rewriting the lyric. She asked me if I would be prepared to sing it and I was happy to give it a go. We did have a lot of fun but had no idea it would go forward to such a great reception months later!"
With him in the vid are (left) Keyleigh Walker and Pamala Mullan.
"They were really good to work with. And another of the prime movers was Lizzy Coles (pictured second left ion the group shot), who helped organise things for us all."
Ruairidh's five-star performance – bemoaning the maddening restraints of the coronavirus regulations and including a sensational backflip - has quickly won plenty of fans on local social media.
