The boss at a golf course in Aviemore which has just been named one of the very best in Scotland has paid tribute to staff and players for its success.

Macdonald Aviemore Resort’s Spey Valley Championship golf course was crowned Best Golf Course in Scotland in the £61 to £100 category at the latest Scottish Golf Tourism Awards.

David MacMullen, director of golf at Macdonald Hotels and Resorts, said after picking up the award: “It’s a real privilege to see our course named as one of the best in Scotland.

“This award is a true testament to the hard work of our whole team who make Spey Valley such a pleasure to play, and the loyalty of our members and guests for choosing to play here.

“It is a truly spectacular golf course, with exceptional Highland views and a mix of terrain which makes each experience playing here very exciting and unique.”

At 635 yards, Spey Valley’s fifth hole is one of the longest golf holes in Scotland.

Dumbarnie Links on the East Neuk of Fife was named Scotland’s Best Golf Experience at the awards, which were originally launched in 2011.

The country’s newest golf course, which opened for play in May 2020, took the top honour at the glitzy ceremony held at the Fairmont St Andrews resort.
